KIDZ FOR A CURE 2008
The three hour event run by children at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara raised nearly $3,000 in its inaugural year.
The Newcats
The band, The Newcats, whose members range from 8 to 15 years old, entertained the crowd with their versions of some great hits (805-968-2773)
Michael Katz
Storyteller Michael Katz captivated youngsters and adults alike with his energizing stories, amzaing voices and maleable faces.
Lois Capps
Congresswoman Lois Caps visited the children selling their wares and addressed the crowd with a rousing speech about how one person can make a difference.
Cookie The Clown
Cookie the Clown (a.k.a. Dolores Deyer) spent the morning juggling, making balloon animals and putting smiles on everyone's faces before driving back home in her miniature circus car.
Surf Dog
Bill Connelly fed the masses and quenched thirsts with his famous Surf Dogs and lemonade.
Origami Cranes/ Face Painting
Children had their faces painted before folding paper cranes. Cranes made in 2008 will be added to those in this year's event. When 1000 are created, they will be donated and hung at a local childrens' hospital ward.
Raffle and Silent Auction
Donated prizes included: dinners, hotel and resort stays, admission to amusement parks and much more.
